iPod touch Public wifi question...

Hello,

I was in the airport the other day and i wanted to go online with my Touch. I wen to wifi settings and Free Public Internet came up on my networks. It had no lock sign. After choosing this network I attempted to go online but it said connection was not available. Any ideas why this happened.

Maybe the signal was not strong enough. I've had problems where if it takes too long to load it will not connect.

Just because it isn't locked doesn't mean they aren't allowing access to specified MAC addresses or something else. I have a handheld device that doesn't like WEP security so I have wireless restricted to specified MAC addresses only as some what of a work around.
