I might be asking a question no one can answer yet. If I wanted to purchase an iPhone (3G) as a gift, I obviously do not want to active a line of service for that person - thats his/her job to active, choose the right plan, etc. Is AT&T going to offer an option for this type of purchase?
I realize it has the opportunity for abuse (purchase phone "as gift" then just unlock and active on another carrier), but I have to imagine gift purchases could be a good source of revenue that Apple and AT&T would not want to deny.
Curious if anyone has an answer (from discussions with AT&T reps) or has any thoughts. Thanks.
