I'm about to purchase a new MacBook Pro. Is there any merit in buying from an Apple Store rather than buying online to save in tax

The only advantage that I can see buying from an Apple store vs a quality online retailer is the instant gratification of hands-on with your new prize.

Waiting for delivery can really suck sometimes. :)

I go with online much of the time, as I typically tweak the configuration, something that I can't do in the brick and mortar store.

Thanks guys. Online it is. I've had a MBA for a few years and love it but now I'm going to make the jump to a rMBP for my photo editing.

Is there any online dealers that are preferable? Having been burned by Adorama I have nothing to do with them anymore.

Thanks again.

Apple.com, amazon.

I've had good luck with Adorama, why were you burned by them?

I think the Apple Store would charge sale tax wouldn't it? I'm thinking someone like B&H or Mac Mall might be better.

I don't want to discuss the "A" company. Someone mentioned it in an earlier post.

My two online purchases have been with MacMall and Adorama. Use the price guide to determine who has the best price for the desired configuration. Amazon will collect sales tax and so will any retailer who had a point of presence in your state. MacMall would have charged me sales tax but I had the Macbook delivered to my niece in a state next door. Right now it is hard to beat Adorama prices with Apple Care.
