I'm purchasing an iPhone but my wife won't be in (line) with me to get it. It'll be with her acct. do I just have to provide her number and social sec to Apple for them to figure out the price and sell it?

Unless you are an authorized user on the account I don't think you will be able to upgrade (even if you have her SSN).

Correct me if I'm wrong.

If you have a family plan, you can do it. You need your account info and her phone number

I am an authorized user/account manager for her account. As long as this is the case and I have my ID's etc on me, then should all be okay in the Apple Store?

What if I'm taking my wife's upgrade and she is going to get my 5 that I currently have? Do I need to bring anything special with me to get the phone and make the switch of numbers? Thanks!

Just upgrade her line to the 5s because that's the upgrade eligible line right? Then when you get home, swap sim cards (if on ATT) that's what I'm doing.
