Hey All.

Current contract with Telus is up, so planning to retire my Treo and get a 3GS. I've talked to Telus a few times now, and they have a pretty decent plan proposed for me. They have pretty good coverage in my area, and I have been happy with their service.

I was about to pull the trigger, and went to the Apple store to purchase. Was planning to buy the phone outright so as not to be bogged down by a 3yr contract. I was a little dismayed to find out that the phone is locked to the carrier even if you buy it outright.

I had wrongly assumed that if you paid in full it would not be tied to that network you first hook up with. I would prefer to be able to switch networks at some point if I want.

I think I will look around for a slightly used/unlocked one, as if I do unlock a new one it will void warranty and decrease value. Might as well just buy one like that right out the gate and save some money.

If anyone has some input on good place to get one, and anything to watch out for, that would be appreciated. I would prefer a 3Gs, dont care about color.

Thanks in advance for your help.
