So I just got a great deal on a very minimally used 2017 Macbook Pro 15". It seems as though the previous owner wiped it clean before selling to me, but to be safe, I was going to wipe it clean myself and reinstall High Sierra fresh.

I've read a bunch and I think have a handle on the process to do this via the Recovery Partition during startup. Just had a couple questions regarding a few steps...

- I have a 2017 Retina MBP with SSD - should I go with APFS over Mac OS Extended when reformatting the SSD? What I've read seems to recommend that for SSD's.

- My HD is 1TB - is there any need to partition it at all?

- any other best practices or tips when going through this process? Don't want to mess something up or have to do it a second time.

Thanks so much for any pointers!

When you install High Sierra, it converts HFS to APFS for SSDs. You don’t get to choose.

There’s no need to partition.
