When I ordered my 5 through AT&T there was no option for Applecare+. I used my AmEx so the phone would have double the warranty period. I've never used the AmEx warranty but have heard good things about them. However, I got to thinking if something did happen to the phone would they reimburse the $199 purchase price or the full price we would have to pay to replace it without an upgrade.

Anyone have any experience with having their iPhone replaced by AmEx?

I purchased the 4S (full price) when it first came out and managed to drop it the first day. I went to Apple and paid $200 for a "new" one, but I submitted a claim to AMX (online and convenient) and they reimbursed my full purchase price. Pretty much no questions asked. So, I essentially got the 4S for $200.

Very smart .
