Purchases from AppleTV sync'ed and downloaded

I purchased The Office series last night directly from the ATV. Today, I fired up iTunes and it synced them from the ATV, but then started redownloading them from the iTunes Store.

I paused all the downloads and then deleted them. Then I synced the ATV. So now I have all the shows on my machine. Fire up iTunes, and it starts downloading all the same shows again.

Is there something simple I'm missing? This seems like a very unintelligent syncing system.

HD version?

Did you purchase the HD version of the series? If so, only the HD version is/was on the AppleTV, and since the purchase price includes an SD version of each episode for use on the iPhone or iPod, iTunes is now attempting to download the SD counterpart to the already-downloaded HD version.
