Hi guys,

Thinking of purchasing a 17" Macbook Pro and have a few questions.

1. For those of you who have got one, do you find it too big to carry around, sit on your lap etc?
2. If I'm correct the screen is 1900x1200, how good would you rate the screen?
3. It says the battery has up to 1000 charges. After that, is the batterys performance expected to decline?

4. Any regrets on buying the 17" (wish you'd bought the 15") if so why?

Thanks for your time

Nope, but I've had a 17" Apple Notebook for years now

Going to depend on Matte vs. Glossy

3. It says the battery has up to 1000 charges. After that, is the batterys performance expected to decline?
Umm, depends, but most likely it would have started minimally declining before then

4. Any regrets on buying the 17" (wish you'd bought the 15") if so why?

Thanks for your time
Absolutely not.

1) no
2) great screen but text is a little small
3) yes, apple can replace the battery at an apple store
4) had a 15" went with the 17" did not consider another 15 was in between 13" and 17"

Text is a little small, but can adjust in the main body of a program. Can't adjust the menu bar of a program. Some programs remember your adjustment while for others you have to adjust again when you open program.

I just received mine and it had a bowed screen/body. Oh, also it came with the DVD region preset to region 6 (this was supposedly a new machine). Apple is sending a replacement. Otherwise, it is a fantastic machine.

Thanks for the replies guys,

I've just heard people say the 17" is too big to be a portable laptop, however I wont be taking it everywhere with me, I will be moving it around now and again.

How are you supposed to upgrade the ram in the future as I couldn't find an opening?

Thanks

You take the entire bottom casing off of the computer to access drive and memory.

You will not regret going for the 17". Guaranteed. Just the 2" in screen real estate makes a huge difference. Hope you enjoy it!

I'm a freelancer and love to work at Starbucks and such places. I had 17'' DELL XPS M170 for years and years. Even DELL was great about being portable :) 2 days ago I ordered 17'' macbook pro :) tomorrow I will have it. and no doubt it will be even more easy to carry around for freelance freedom work :D

dont worry about portability ;)
