I've got a $200 Apple GC that I'd like to put towards the cost of a new iPhone-is there a way to add the card to my account and have it automatically deduct and charge the remainder to my credit card on file when I make a purchase? Obviously we'll all be checking out as fast as possible come pre order day and usually doing GC/CC combined transactions takes precious time.

I'm wondering the same. Thinking it would be faster to buy the GC with my CC and apply the GC to my account.

Checkout with the GC only is my plan basically.

I have a GC that I need to make use of as well. Is it possible to apply it to your account for the Apple Store?

I believe once it is an Apple Store GC it can be applied to your account at checkout to purchase items including an iPhone. Apple says one can use up to 8 GC at checkout to purchase an item.

Thanks - but curious if it can be added ahead of time. I guess that wouldn’t make much sense though, as it’s not an account like iTunes/app store where you have recurring purchases.

Did notice that you can add it to Apple Wallet on the phone.

Before you do anything with the gift cards, you may want to check with your credit card company regarding the typical kinds of protections. Things like Extended Warranties, Theft (or Loss) Protections, etc. might only apply if you use the credit card for the full purchase price.

For instance, my credit card gives me an additional 2 years of warranty coverage, but only up to the purchase price charged to the card. I don't know about theft protection, but it would suck if you weren't covered (or fully covered) and got your phone stolen or lost.

At least it's worth a 10 minute read of your credit card's protection plan.
