purchasing dilemma

hi all,

i need some advice, i am about to buy a new computer and my choices are:

2008 Mac Pro 2.8 octo

2009 Mac Pro 2.66 quad

2009 17' MBP 2.66 mate display (i don't need portability) but i have a laptop at the moment, so i'm considering this.

i'm moving up from a 12' PowerBook

they all cost about the same here, no real savings on the 2008 MP, and the MBP would save me about 250 bucks.

video and photo editing

nothing fancy... i work as a diver and when i'm not teaching i film, then sell the dvds. i include images and cool stuff i capture when out without customers.
