I appreciate the Genius Bar at my local Apple Retail Store, and wonder if I can get service there if I purchase elsewhere. MacMall has a great deal for me, with free Parallels 5. I already own a copy of WinXP, and have been debating Fusion v. Parallels. Getting it for free simplifies!

Thanks,
Greg
PS--been lurking for months in anticipation of MBP refresh!

The only downside to buying from MacMall and the like is that they have NO return policy, even if they send you a DOA machine. That means if you get a DOA unit or even a unit with a couple dead pixels your only option is to have your new machine repaired. You can't swap it out for another new machine.

In contrast, if you buy from Apple or Amazon, you can swap out for a new machine.
