PureFTPd problem ?

I have installed PureFTPd ftp server because I want to move some big files from a computer to mine. I can get the server to start, with the vitual users and such, but my friend is not able to get connected to the server. Access to the FTP from the control panel is OFF. I have checked on google , but I couldn't find a solution.

Help me ?

Btw, i'm on a macbook CD.
