There's this purple dot in all my pictures and videos, I've had my iPhone 5 for about 2 months and I haven't noticed this before. There's nothing on the lens cover either. Is there a chip on the sensor and how did it get there?

This is an issue with all of the iPhone 5's. Apple says it happened with the 4S as well but not as often. It's a problem with the lighting, almost like a lens flare. If you look around here, you'll find a lot of other threads regarding this issue.

No, it's an actual purple dot. It doesn't move around and I can see it almost anywhere

Oh. There may be something on your lens cover. If you have an apple store close to you I'd take it in and have it looked at or replaced.
