Hi all, apologies if this has been discussed ad nauseum already. “Fast” charging is new to me since I just upgraded from my dearly departed 7 Plus to the 13 PM.

For long-term health of the battery, should I be mostly using “slow” charging methods, particularly overnight when I’m in no rush? For fast charging needs, I do have the MacBook Air power brick option.

Currently looking at bedside MagSafe-compatible chargers and the Belkin magnetic one with long cord is intriguing, and its restricted 7.5w capability doesn’t bother me for overnight charging. Just wondering if this is actually preferable to Apple’s 15w one, long-term. Thanks in advance!

Smaller chargers are a little easier on the battery because they put out less current which generates less heat.
It’s not really an issue in the non summer months, but on a hot day or night, it’s best to charge slower so the battery doesn’t get as hot.
You can definitely feel the temperature difference when holding the phone fast charging vs slow charging.
I charged my 6 Plus with an iPad 12 watt charger for years (in the desert when ambient temp was regularly over 100° F) and the battery showed no signs of accelerated degradation after 6 years. Original battery still at over 92% battery health with 1950 load cycles.
Key to that longetivity was never charging to 100% and keeping it above 40% most of the time.
