Push and WIFI

Im wondering does Push only work with cellular internet? Like 3G/Edge? Or is push even supposed to work with WIFI?

I tried gmail push never worked for me.. I also tried the new facebook app update that now has push hasnt worked for me.. I even tested both and the facebook app i got a push notification like hour and a half later after i woke the phone up from sleep.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Is your phone jailbroken? My apps and email push over wifi when I don't have my sim in. Jailbroken phones have problems with pushing correctly...

No my phones is NOT jailbroken. And im running the latest software.
