The iPhone updates at a max of every 15 min (unless something has changed very recently).

I got the NuevaSync gmail push feature and so far it's very good. I changed fetch to work manually, and the push seems quite stable. I usually hear a "ping" on the iphone about 5 sec after my mac gets the email - not bad. That said - I have had a few times when I open mail and find that I have an email that wasn't pushed (i.e. when it fetches, i get the mail).

I like it. Works well enough for me. My phone kept vibrating in the movies. Got three or four emails pushed 2-3 minutes apart. (they were delivered at other times)

Thanks CDutch.

Since I use the iPhone's single Exchange account for work, I miss not being able to sync my google contacts and calendar. This looks like a solution.
I'll think I'll give it a try.....

Ahh, my hopes were dashed after reading the FAQ-

"I already sync with my company's Exchange server, can I use Nuevasync?

At present unfortunately you can't because the devices are all restricted to a single sync source. It'd be nice if this restriction were removed. If you only use your corporate server for e-mail (and not calendar or contacts or tasks) then you may be able to use IMAP to access it, and still configure Nuevasync as your sync source."

Guess I'll wait for the rumored Gmail Push.

Google offers a free public exchange service for iPhones for gmail, calendars, contacts... if it's an exchange server wouldn't that do push as well?
