LOS ANGELES BABY!!
Hi I was wondering if anybody else is having this problem. I received my new new iPhone 5 32gig white ATT yesterday. I set up my email accounts and I've been trying to get my push notifications from my AOL account since yesterday. I cannot get my push aol email on my iPhone 5. When I get a new email and the screen is locked I did not get any alert sound

I think this is a problem with iOS 6.0. My iPhone 4S and my new iPad both are running 5.1.1 and they are able to very easily get all my push notifications for my AOL email account. All the settings for mail on my iPhone 5 are exactly as they are on my iPhone 4S and my new iPad. I was on the phone tonight with AppleCare senior adviser who is unable to rectify the situation and figure out why my AOL email cannot be pushed on my iPhone 5 and provide me with an alert sound when the phone is sleeping (meaning the screen is just turned off)

Is anyone else having any problems getting notifications on their iPhone 5 for their email or any other application??

I've tried turning the phone on and off deleting the account several times turning the phone on and off after I deleted the account all to no avail.

Yet on my new iPad and my for 4s this all works fine

Is anybody else having this on their new iPhone 5??

Push notifications not working

I have the iPhone4 and iPad2 and in both cases I cannot get my AOL Push notifications to work. My Iphone5 is to be delivered to me next Friday. I did go in and remove the accounts, and then I added them again and rebooted both devices. This did not fix the issue. This is something that Apple is going to have to resolve. It's frustrating.

Are u running 6.0 and u can't get it to work? Cuz it works for me on 5.1.1.

Let me know.

I have the same issue, The only thing I can add is that I upgraded my 4s to iOS 6 before i got me 5 and had the same problem with it after the upgrade. I have switched my AOL account to Fetch and it seems to at least get the mail on the 15min fetch schedule but not like it used to work with push. My Icloud mail account pushes fine.

P.S my 4s worked fine under 5.1.1

Wow. Thank you. You validated that I not crazy!! Thank you. Clearly it is an iOS 6 issue that apple isn't aware of yet. I tried fetch. Didn't really work but i will give it another try.

Please pm me if u get it fixed. Thanks.

Oh and my iCloud pushes fine too on iphone 5 and iOS 6

I have this same problem and I finally figured it out, first make sure all of your sound, mail, and notification settings are what you want them to be, meaning you have the alert sound you want and you have chosen between a banner or alert for your iphone to display when you get an email.

The "Push" feature is what enables your email server to push emails instantly to your iphone as they are received. Only certain mail servers are supporting the "Push" feature right now. Other options that the iphone offers for receiving email are "Fetch" and "Manual". "Fetch" you have to choose either manual, hourly, every 30 minutes, or every 15 minutes for your iphone to fetch your emails and send you a notification; "Manual" obviously just means you manual check your email whenever you want and no notifications will be used, unless you use the "Manual Fetch" feature which means you will get notifications only while you are in your mail app. to see if your email server is supporting the "Push" function simply go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calenders>Fetch New Data>Advanced>Click your email/emails> and select "Push" or if it doesn't support "Push" you will only be able to select "Fetch" or "Manual". I have heard that "Fetch" drains your battery more than normal, it might be a myth but if your iphone is loosing battery quick that might be the reason. Also turning the "Push" function on in the "Fetch New Data" section does nothing unless your email server supports "Push", in which case it will change all your email accounts to the "Push" function. Currently my iphone is set up to "Fetch" every 15 minutes and it works but it obviously isn't instant but at least I get a notification within a reasonable time, I have not noticed any huge drainage in battery life so far.

For more information and a list of email servers that apple says support push visit this link: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2625?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US#

Hope this helps.

Running iOS 6 with iPhone 5. Worked on my 4S. Actually it's not just Aol. Seems the only push that works is me and gmail.

Have you tried deleting all mail accounts Including icloud? Last thing I might tey is a restore.

Push not working

People still use AOL?

I have had the same AOL email address since 1997 when the net was new. I stopped using the silly AOL software years ago, but as far as an email address goes it works for me and I have never seen a reason to change it.

As far as PUSH goes, I did have a couple of emails push on their own for the first time this morning, but by far not all of them. Maybe they are working on this from behind the scenes. :D

Same thing here. Push works, the emails go through and I hear the notification sound coming from my Galaxy IIs but not my ipad or iphone 4. Worked fine before the update.

working now..found fix in Apple discussions

Basically make sure it's set for push..

Change nuimber of days to sync email from current setting (Ex 1 week)

change your current setting preview number of messages to whatever (ex.100)

and reboot phone..

Verify push is working and you can switch back to the setting you had prior.

So I tried that fix but it only seems to work of exchange servers not straight AOL mail. For instance AOL can't change the days to sync. So far the only thing I have been able to do is set to Fetch and have it check every 15 min.

Mine was not working until today. I am able to receive my push aol email. And I wasn't able to from Friday til early this morning.
