Push Notification Updates for Mac.

Hi i had a question for a while and wanted to know your opinion. You know why apple hasn't add push notifications for mac app store updates, for OS X Lion updates etc?

What do you mean push notifications for updates?
Isn't checking once a week sufficient for us to be notified that there's an update? Given the long times between updates I'm not sure I see the value
