Okay, so here's either a cautionary tale or a call for some information:

I was at Thanksgiving dinner and plugged my iPhone 3G (2.2) into a somewhat old (bought ~2 years ago, don't know the model) Denon iPod dock. The iPhone said it was an incompatible dock, and offered to go into Airplane mode (I didn't). The dock was unable to find music. After a lot of playing around, I realized - there was no music! The 14 GB I'd uploaded were all gone. Unlike other problems I'd found by Googling where people's iPods showed all the space used up (in iTunes), I plugged into iTunes to check and everything was actually just - gone. I don't know if the dock is what screwed things up, but I did nothing else of note with it before (didn't even make phone calls) since I last checked that the music was there. So either it was the dock, or the music just randomly decided to delete itself!

Anyone have ideas as to what happened?
