Putting 8GB into 13" Core 2 Duo?

My friend has this laptop :

This seems to say 8GB will work with Boot ROM Version MB51.007D.B03 and running Snow Leopard or higher.

1) Can anyone else confirm this?
2) Also do you get the correct boot ROM just by ensuring you have run all the updates or is it a special version I need to download?

Technically that isn't a MacBook Pro, just a standard MacBook. It'll work fine with 8GB. It has been so long since I've updated mine so I don't remember if it was an update or I had to search for it.

Thanks T5Brick . I forgot the old Unibody 13" wasn't called a Pro, I had assumed anything unibody was pro like it is now.

It's basically the same except for the removable battery and the lack of a FireWire port. Just wanted to point you in the right direction in case the firmware updates between the two models are different.
