Putting a G4 Slot loading drive into a G3 ibook?

I was wondering if it was possible to replace a g3 ibook's tray loading drive with a slot loading drive from a g4 or if anyone has done this?

I have a g4 slot loading drive and I am fulling aware the outside casing would be wrong... but that isn't much of an issue, I can replace the panel/casing section with a new panel to take care of that... i just want to know if it is possible as far as hookups etc are concerned.

gotta check the wattage each draws and the bus MHz for each. It might be possible physically, but do some damage to the iBook logic board.
