Hey all, I have scoured google for this but can't seem to find the definitive answer

I am trying to put my iPhoto library on the time capsule, when I click copy and then paste it into the data folder, it copies at about 1mb per second, which equates to about 20 days on the finder window...
Tried it cabled and wireless, I have even put it onto another external HDD and plugged that into the back of the capsule to see if it would copy like that, but that time it didn't even respond.
For some reason the system isn't very solid when I am trying to do this, if I give up and click stop copying the window stays on for ages and won't go, and the only way to get the computer back is to turn it off with the power button (press and hold) :s - any advice appreciated .
