Idea: take a classic macbook pro 15", with dual SSD setup, 16 GB ram and add a retina display.

benefits:

a) retina display
b) better specs than the actual retina macbook
c) upgradeable (SSDs and RAM can be easily exchanged)

possible, yes or no?

what do you think?

You mean you want to do it yourself? It would certainly be 'possible', but the resulting Frankenstein will most definitely fall apart when you move it a few inches because the display assembly is completely different. Also, it will draw the battery very quickly.

Velcro a Thunderbolt SSD case to the back of the display. Dual SSD now. Never mind the cable.
