PvZ iphone 4 to PvZ HD iPad?

I had no problem transferring my gamesave from Avatar on the iphone 4 to Avatar HD; however when I try to transfer my PvZ save on my iphone 4 to my HD version on the ipad, it does not work. Are saves usually not compatible between iphone and HD versions for the ipad or is this just something particular with Plants vs. Zombies?

I had to beat that game 3 times going back and forth from my iphones to ipads because that game didn't save my data.
