"If physical brightness of your iPhone 11 or 11 Max display remains at 50% setting or higher, there will be no PWM flickering either;"

"The display backlight flickers at 290.7 Hz (Likely utilizing PWM) Flickering detected at a brightness setting of 99 % and below. There should be no flickering or PWM above this brightness setting."

What i want to know is which article is true?

I think both are true. I know Notebookcheck and they measure everything in immense detail - it's right that the backlight flickers around 291 Hz. The question is if it is noticeable though - and I'd say Elcomsoft means that there's no noticeable PWM flickering above 50 % or higher brightness.

Just because eyes can't perceive it, it doesn't mean it's not there - looking at you, infrared.

Hi MandiMac,

"Just because eyes can't perceive it, it doesn't mean it's not there - looking at you, infrared."

Yes, you are right. I actually only care about the problems like eye strain, headache that OLED screens cause. I think whether it is noticable or not It has the potential for causing the problems i mentioned.

I think I'll buy iPhone 11.

Thank you for your comment.

You're welcome! I am still on the iPhone 8+ with its LCD screen and can't really discern a difference to my wife's X with its OLED screen in normal use. Only with Dark mode on at night there's a visible difference. I think you'll be so happy with an iPhone 11 :)

the Elcomsoft article on PWM and how to try to decrease its impacts, is one of the best written, easy to understand, articles i have read on this topic.
