Pwnage tool VS Redsn0w !!!

having in mind that i own a mac and a pc and an iphone 3GS (old bootrom) already jailbroken , what is the best jailbreak process to upgrade to iOS 4.0 ... using pwnage tool 4.0.1 or redsn0w?

what are the advantages and disadvantages of the two jailbreaking software?

what would you recommend in your opinion?

Redsn0w does not work for the 3GS at 4.0. Your only option right now is a "jailbreak train" upgrade using PwnageTool. Under no circumstances should you upgrade to 4.0 official.
