I have 1st generation (2G) iPhone with 2.1 firmware. I'm with AT&T but would like to unlock the phone for international travel. I read posts in this forum and downloaded PwnageTool 2.1. I have no need to install any apps comes with Cydia or Installer, so I'm running it in Expert Mode. But I'm not quite sure what to do with the "activate the phone" checkbox on General Settings page. Some posts state that it should be unchecked if the phone is on AT&T, but some say it should be checked to unlock the phone. Could some one explain to me what it does?
This checkbox also gives me an impression that every time I use non-AT&T SIM, I have to go back to my computer and re-activate the phone with non-AT&T SIM in it. Please tell me that I am wrong.
I'm running iTunes 8 on Leopard.
Thank you in advance.
