I want to update my iPhone currently running 4.0.1, jailbroken with jailbreakme.com to iOS 4.1. I am going to use PwnageTool to do this - can anyone tell me what it does exactly?

If I understand correctly, all it does is put 4.1 on the device, already jailbroken, and everything else (AppStore apps left as they were, same order and all, jailbroken apps [like MyWi, etc]) stays the same. Is that right?

I'd prefer not to have to resync all of my music, apps, etc and then put everything back the way I had it, so will using PwnageTool allow this? Thanks.

Completely inaccurate. PT will jailbreak your phone to iOS 4.1. You will have to redownload your jb apps and resync to get your AppStore apps, contacts, etc. You can use Pkgbackup to more efficiently backup and restore your Cydia apps.

Alright thanks; the person I talked to told me that it would leave everything as it is and just put on 4.1 already jailbroken.

Just do an upgrade install in iTunes then JB with Limera1n. That'll leave all your App Store stuff how it is.

PwnageTool worked awesomely. I was able to restore from a backup so all of my stuff was put back the way I left it, only running 4.1 instead. It went very smoothly. Thanks for the help guys.
