Q. about RAM in iMac

hello there i currently rockin' the 21.5 inch imac late 2009. And i want to expand my RAM. I currently have 4 gigs of RAM. My plan is first to try and buy 1 stick of 2 gig. However i though the system always works its best with pairs of 2 sticks. Hope you guys can help me

Installing RAM in pairs will enable dual-channeling but that's pretty negligible in real life. You can use a single 2GB module just fine
