Can anyone tell me if it matters which wrist you wear your series 6 Apple Watch on (based on the orientation you told it when you set it up)? More specifically, can I change wrists at any time without it giving me false/abnormal readings?

When I first set my new watch up a couple months ago, I told it that my “orientation“would be on my left wrist (which is accurate about 60% of the time) I would hope that I don’t have to redo the “setup” every time I switch wrists.

The thing is, is I change wrists a few times a day (due to sweating/itching), and I don’t know if that changes any readings/measurements that are taken (or the perceived accuracy)?

Thanks for any input from the Apple Watch gurus!

I also switch the watch between my wrists several times a day. It never occurred to me that might affect any of the watch's functions in any way, and I've never noticed any problems.

Thank you very much guys!!!

I will probably try it without changing the orientation, but the perfectionist in me will likely make me change it.

We’ll see how lazy I get ;)

The orientation setting in my understanding is primarily used to help fine-tune motion tracking for workouts and screen wakes. Basically the Watch is better at knowing when to wake up when you lift it up and how to track your movement if it knows what wrist it’s on.

The only position-related issue I've ever found has nothing to do with which wrist and whether the crown is up or down (for background, I'm mostly RH but wear my AW mostly on my RH wrist, crown up) is accidentally having the AW too far down toward my wrist and biking with my hands on the dropped part of the bars, which creates an angle that can cause intermittent readings. Other than that, as long as the AW is snug so that the sensors stay in contact, I don't think you'll have issues.

I find that if I don’t switch the orientation it doesn’t record stand minutes and movement accurately.
