Q. How to restore Lion on new HD?

I'm going to install a new hard drive (Seagate 500GB Momentus XT) into the imac running Lion tomorrow.

The problem is the new drive will not have Lion recovery partition, so can I insert the SL DVD came with my imac and restore Lion from Time machine backup in the menu?

Cheers the link, it's a good read.

But I think I'll restore Lion to the new HD via Firewire, then swap out the hard drive.

This seems to be the simplest solution, don't know why I did not think of it first.
