Qestion re: iphone/ipad accessory compatibiliyt

I have ordered a 64G3G ipad which I am expecting on June 24. I drive a Mini and have the Ipod attachment which plays through the Mini's sound system. I am wondering if this will be seamlessly compatible with the Ipad. If not, what suggestions do you have for using the Ipad in car with the radio/sound system?

It may play but not charge the iPad.
