Hi everyone,

I have an iMac11,2 21.5", 3.06GHz Intel Core i3, 4GB RAM, 500GB, running Mac OS X 10.6.8.

The iMac has been having an issue with going to sleep according to the Energy Saver settings, but will go to sleep if I press Apple Menu -> Sleep.

After some searching today, I have found this discussion, that made me look for any processes causing crashes all the time and this way not letting the iMac go to sleep.

I looked in System Profiler -> Software -> Logs -> system.log and found that there were a lot of crash reports related to qmasterd. I checked in /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports and noticed about 4-5 new crash reports per minute related to qmasterd!

Does anyone know how I can resolve this? Perhaps by solving this the iMac will have no issues going to sleep according to the System Settings.

Thanks

Hi again,

Apparently according to this post it is linked with the Apple Qmaster, that was installed as part of Final Cut Pro.

Attached is a Crash Report from just a while ago.

Can anyone help?

Hi,

The issue has not exactly been resolved, but since I no longer use Final Cut Pro I decided to remove it using FCS Remover. This way I managed to remove all applications and files related to Final Cut Pro, including Apple Qmaster and of course the crashes stopped occurring.

Now the iMac can go to sleep as per the System Settings -> Energy Saver -> Computer Sleep setting.
