Since QT 7.1 some files won't play. I get an error message saying "The movie could not be found". What's going on?
These files play very nicely in VLC - but QT can't even find them??

This happens on both my QS 2002 G4 (10.3.9) and my MacBook (10.4.7)

Help appreciated!

What sort of files are they? :)

Mostly .mpg files, but .avi and .wmv files are sometimes affected.
This happens independently on two different machines.

Are the files kept on the boot up drive or are they being stored elsewhere? :)

They're on the boot drive on the MacBook (it's only got one drive! ;) )
On my G4 they're saved on the boot drive or one of the other drives - it doesn't matter... same error message! :(

This occurred after upgrading QT to 7.1 OR installing Flip4Mac - I can't remember which...

Well maybe try uninstalling Flip4Mac for a while to see if it's better. :)

That didn't help at all....
Come on! This MUST have happened to more users than just me!!
What does the "Movie could not be found" error message mean? I'm double clicking the movie icon!! The file is there AND it can be played by other movie players!

Try checking the permissions on the movie files. I remember a similar problem I had with one movie file - when I checked it, I did not even have read permission for it, but it was fine once I changed it back.
