The Cool Part of CA, USA
Ok, I just did some experiments to confirm something really weird with Quicktime Player. I occasionally hook my MPB up to my LCD TV to watch downloaded videos. The color looked a little faded to me, though, so I sat down and ran through the colorsync calibration to get it set right, and set it on TV gamma for good measure.

The video still looked faded... until I dropped out of present movie mode, at which point it looked as expected.

Turns out that when, and ONLY when, in Present Movie mode on a 2nd monitor, there's a significant color shift. It's NOT the TV, because there's no color shift when I do the same in VLC, and in fact if I float a window on top of the presented movie it does NOT change--the change is only happening in QT player itself. Fit to screen is fine, and it doesn't matter what the background color is set to--it's kicking into Present mode that does it (you can even see it as it finishes resizing--that's how I noticed).

Further, there doesn't appear to be any shift when I do the same on the MBP's own screen, just an external. It occurred to me that maybe QT player was somehow mistakenly applying the profile of the internal to the video on the external when presenting, but the same thing happened even when I set both profiles to the same one.

Has anybody else noticed this? Could somebody with QT Pro and a 2nd monitor try it and see if it's something about my setup? Any suggestions for a workaround?
