QT player won't play avi format.

Hello aluminum junkies, I cannot find QT player prefs. I want to get it out of the way if it will not play avi and other file types. I can't seem to disable it.

In QT's info page there doesn't seem to be a place to add other file types or remove it's default status. What are my options please?

Select an AVI file in Finder and choose File/Get Info. Under "Open with", select a different application and then click on Change All.

QT does not natively support the AVI container. I recommend VLC as a replacement.

Actually, it does support the container, but very few of its possible codecs.
