QT Screen Recording Degrade W/ Capitan?

It seems that the screen recordings I make since having purchased a new iMac are a lot less sharp when I upload to YouTube than they used to be prior to el capitan.
Has anyone else experienced this?
If so, is there some type of preference I could adjust to get better QT recordings?
Should I be considering a different app for screen recordings?
