Previous iPhones were tri-band 850/1900/2100.

Do we have any idea yet what the fourth band is? Maybe 1700 which would allow 3G on tmobile USA, Wind,Mobilicity in Canada? Or maybe something like 900 to supplement 2100 in europe/asia?

Specs are up at Apple.com, looks like they added 900mhz.

****. That was the thing that got me most excited. I thought that Apple just added stealth T-Mobile compatibility, even if AT&T would still be the only way to get subsidized models.

So the 900 mhz is only applicable to Europe/Asia - sounds like without the 1700 compatibility still no 3G on T-Mo?

Affirmative. T-Mo USA uses one band for uplink, one for downlink, so you need both of theirs. This one's still designed for (full-featured) ATT lock-in in the USA.

yeah just saw that online on apple not long ago. too bad.. i was hoping more for the new carriers in canada who have same 3G network as tmobile.. they wont have a chance until apple opens to tmobile as well though.
