I just received my new Quad Core Mac Pro, when I start the system, the power supply and PCI fan (8800GT) would run at 2000RPM for roughly 3-5 minutes before it goes back to 600-700. This happen on cold boot and not restarts.

Is this normal?

How do you have a 2009 with an 8800GT graphics card? That wasn't an option in the buildout... Or did you buy the 8800 and put it into a 2009?

And no, that's not normal. My 2009 quad with 4870 doesn't do that. The case fans only spin up to max for 2-3 seconds on boot and then immediately go back to whisper quiet and pretty much stay that way.

I bought it from Apple Store awhile back for my 2.8Ghz Mac Pro

Thanks for the tip
