Despite having a model number that fits in the range of the power supply repair extension program, since it happened exactly 3 years, 3 months after purchase, so they are going to charge over $300 to repair. 
This happened on the same weekend that my iPhone 3G produced a white screen of death and had to be replaced. At least that didn't cost anything, but that is little solace in the face of this insult. I simply do not have the $ right now to go spending on a new desktop or repairing this one, and its rather annoying to know that this is a known issue that they aren't going to repair on their dime.
... and to top it off, if I DON'T get this thing fixed, my 'QUAD G5' license plate will become prematurely moot.
