Hi All,

Wondering if anyone has done anything like this - or if anyone know of any such cards which are compatible with Mac OS?

I have a spare Thunderbolt 3 egpu enclosure now I've moved my ML work to my server, and since I no longer need a powerful GPU on my iMac, I'm wondering whether I can use it to build some fast storage.

There are quite a few quad NVMe cards - which the box will support (I've tested it with a PCI-e network card and that works, so I know it's not just limited to GPUs), but I don't know how well any of these will work with Mac OS - and I don't really want to drop that much money on something that may or may not work!

Has anyone done this? or perhaps used any of these cards in a cMP (I'm assuming that if a card works with the cMP, it should work with my iMac via a TB3->PCI-e box).

My breakout box has a full ATX PSU so power shouldn't be an issue - the issue here is compatibility with Mac OS!

It’s doable, provided the card you’re using has macOS drivers out there.

Best bet is to search the Mac Pro forums for PCI-Express NVMe cards.
