Im about to buy a new Nehalem Mac Pro. Reading the forums Ive come to the doubt about whether to buy a quad 2.66MHz or an 8-core 2.26MHz processor one.
My needs are scientific programing. I normally use fortran 77 and Matlab for running simulations and sometimes my simulations can last a few hours in my PC and I would like to improve the simulation time.

Is it worth to buy the dual processor new Mac Pro or will it be just as good to have a single one?? (Ive no idea if, for example, f77 or Matlab would profit from a double processor).

... i do some image editing in photoshop and eventually will do some sound editing also....

cheers and thanks!
