iPod quality of movies and eps on tunes

i was just wondering wot the quality of moves and episodes is when purchased from itunes is. i seen a movie at 1:40 mins at 1 gb and was tryn to see if episodes that were in hd on the tv were hd when you purchased them.
if a hd episode is in hd wouldnt the ep be around 1 gb?and wot about watchn in fullscreen? is it blocky or pixelated? cheers
