I have several animations made by using Photoshop and Final Cut Pro that have jagged lines along the edges of moving objects when they are exported as quicktime movies.

The process involves preparing photographic elements in Photoshop and then using Final Cut Pro to move them around on the stage using multiple video tracks and keyframes to animate action, then exporting the final timelines as quicktime movies.
It is similar to the short animated segments in the Monty Python tv show.

The problem is that the movies show jagged edges on the elements that are in motion.

I have tried various codecs to export them (H264, DV PAL, animation) but they don't help. If I use deinterlace on an export setting, that makes the jagged edges go away but then the moving elements seem a bit blurry.

I notice that with the DV PAL export setting, I can also choose progressive, which also helps but still leaves the moving elements a bit blurry.

Can anyone please advise on which might be the best settings (in Photoshop, or in FCP or in export settings for quicktime) to remove the jagged edges on moving elements without making them look too blurry?
Is there a difference between deinterlace and progressive?

Thanks for any advice.
