Hi, I am under the impression that you can get a .qtz file to play as your desktop background.....but I.m not sure how to go about this?...when I click the file it will only open in Quartz Composer or Quicktime...I.ve seen it done before, but don.t know how...

Thanks,
Christien.

I know when you start a new composer, depending on what template, it automatically makes an entry in you screensaver menu. I don't see any export option though.
I'll look more.

One way would be:

1. Put the qtz file in your ~/Library/Screensavers directory
2. In System Prefs, set the composition to be your screensaver
3. on the commandline invoke ScreenSaverEngine -background

(you'll need the full path for ScreenSaverEngine, which I don't have handy. I'm sure you can find it via Google.)

There's probably a GUI tool to run a screensaver on the desktop.
