I've got an old G4 iMac 700 mhz model that is running Tiger. Earlier in the week, system profiler said that the machine supported Quartz Extreme (and it should... the machine has a Nvidia 32 MB graphics card).

Today I wiped the hard drive and did a clean install of Tiger and after installing Tiger, it no longer says it supports Quartz Extreme in system profiler. I've also noticed other little Quartz effects have disappeared such as the "top sites" in Safari and the ripple effect in Dashboard.

Does anybody know why Quartz Extreme might have been disabled and how to possibly enable it again?

Unless I'm mistaken, the ripple in Dashboard is Core Image, not QE. It should definitely support QE no matter what since you have the right hardware. Possible glitch during installation?

Yeah that's what I was thinking. I installed it from an external computer over firewire so maybe the installation didn't recognize the graphics card?

Any idea how to fix it?
