Maybe this is just me but I've been wanting an analog watch face with quartz movement, meaning in which the second hands advance one second at a time. Isn't it a little surprising that Apple hasn't offered something like this yet? Anyone with me? :)

Sorry to be a pedantic watch nerd, but the beat of the seconds hand doesn’t necessarily mean the watch is quartz or mechanical. Oddly enough, there are mechanical watches with deadbeat seconds hands (beat once per second) that are very expensive, and there are quartz watches with sweep seconds hands out there that are very affordable.

Good to know! I’m not a watch nerd so when I was told the tick tick movement of the second hand indicates it’s a quartz movement, I just believed it.

Funny enough - as a mechanical watch fan, I hate the quartz seconds hands of Garmins. On the Garmin I suspect it's the lack of refresh-rate on the display that makes them do it, but the sweeping hand is a thing of beauty.

If you Google Grand Seiko Spring-Drive - it's basically a hybrid made to give the accuracy of quarts but the full sweeping motion of (even better) the mechanical

I don’t dislike the continuous movement. I do find it strange that Apple doesn’t offer the option to turn on or off the ticking movements.
