Can anyone tell me if there is any possibility of playing video on an ipod photo - i mean surely they have just loaded some new software on the ipod video to get it to play??

First of all, put more information into your thread titles, and more people will view the thread.

And no, you will not be able to play video on an ipod photo for two reasons. First of all it isn't just different software, there is also new hardware on the 5Gs that enable them to play video. Second of all even if it was possible, Apple wouldn't release an update to do it, because it would cut into their sales of the new ipods.
