I would like to use the Action Button to open the messages app on my watch. I created a shortcut on my phone, but it doesn’t show up in the list of available shortcuts in the watch app action button section.
does anyone have any experience with this?

I don't believe that is possible. Since messages from the phone and watch sync to both devices, wouldn't it be redundant to create a shortcut that shows messages from the watch on the phone?

This is what you're looking for

Should be possible. Did you set the shortcut to show on the Apple Watch? View the details of the shortcut and toggle the "Show on Apple Watch" setting.

Hmm, if the shortcut works on your phone, it should work on your watch as well. Are you able to post a screenshot of said shortcut?

It DOES work, but for some reason it doesn’t just open the messages app. first it says it’s opening the shortcut, and there is a lag if a few seconds before it actually does so. I wish I could speed up the action. And thank you ALL for your advice and guidance!
